Käserei Studer AG – a success story

In 1929 the first generation of the Studer family took over the Emmentaler cheesery in Hatswil which had originally been founded in 1867.
At the time, Emmentaler was the predominant cheese in a strictly regulated market and is, to this day, known as "Swiss cheese" in foreign countries.

In 1992 the third generation of the Studer family switched production to Appenzeller cheese and – as soon as it became a free market – kept adding their own cheese creations to the product line. This was the beginning of the success story of Studer specialty cheesemakers; our success story.

By continuously focusing on innovation, combined with traditional cheese manufacture and modern technology, we achieve what we strive for: high quality cheese specialties. Our master cheesemakers daily take on the challenge to meet our high quality regulations.
We put a lot of weight on regional provenance. Hence all our specialties are made in Hatswil TG. We collect our milk daily and directly from our contracted farmers with whom we stay in constant exchange.

This enables us to ensure our commitment to quality throughout the value added chain, from raw milk all the way to the finished product on your cheese platter.

We are both proud and happy that our regional products convince local and international cheese lovers alike, be it for instance in neighbouring Germany or across the ocean in the USA.

Convince yourself of our quality promise and try our signature cheese brands such as "Der scharfe Maxx", "Maxx 365"/"Maxx extra", "Füürtüfel" and "Alter Schweizer".
